A breakthrough year for Capchem Poland

12/28/23, 6:00 AM

Dec. 2023 -- After two years of preparation, Capchem Poland has started production of electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries. Annually, the plant plans to produce 40,000 tonnes of electrolyte. By comparison, a total of around 170,000 tonnes of this component is produced annually at five similar Capchem factories operating in China.

One million electric cars will be able to drive with electrolyte produced by the Polish branch of Capchem within a year.

Capchem Poland is the largest lithium battery electrolyte producer in Europe, making Poland
the world’s second largest producer of batteries and a leader in the European supply chain for these products. Lithium-ion batteries already account for more than 2.4% of Polish exports.

“Our electrolyte goes, among others, to leading brands such as Porsche, Volkswagen and BMW. At the plant, we place emphasis on both efficiency and safety of the entire production
process. By doing so, we want to set standards in an industry that is one of the pillars of the
national economy.”
